N-Oleoyl Sarcosine as an Engine Oil Friction Modifier, Part 1: Tribological Performance of NOS+ZDDP Mixture at 100°C

The friction coefficient when a Fe surface was lubricated with an additive mixture of N-Oleoyl sarcosine (NOS), commercial organic modifier, and zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) measured at 100°C using ball-on-disk tribometer under boundary lubrication conditions. sliding observed 3D laser microscope to investigate the tribo-film morphology evaluate anti-wear performance. findings indicate that this enhanced tribological behavior in terms friction-reducing properties extended cycle Scanning electron microscopy–energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM–EDX) studies were conducted analyze elemental composition surfaces after tribo-tests estimate reduction mechanism mixture. EDX results revealed noticeable decrease S, suggesting NOS suppresses ZDDP decomposition reduces adsorption products.
